Facilities Officer

Job Description

 

Hours:                      10-12 hours per week  

Salary:                     £11 per hour

Accountable to:   Company Secretary

Location:                Caerphilly Miners Centre for the Community 

 

Overview

We’re looking for a Facilities Officer to start working for us as soon as possible. 

 

Your role as Facilities Officer is to ensure that the Centre is operational as a safe, functional and presentable space at all times. You’ll be responsible for the physical spaces within the building, ensuring that our equipment works, identifying key workmen for maintenance and emergencies, procurement of stationery, equipment and refreshments, and supporting the work of the stewards, volunteers and paid staff. We’d ideally want someone able to work 2-3 times a week. 

 

Caerphilly Miners Centre for the Community is a living wage employer. We’re an organisation whose objective is to support the community and its volunteers.  We’re looking for someone with a can-do positive approach, is well organised and an effective administrator, who is able to appreciate the contribution of others and is an ambassador for the Centre at all times.

Duties:

  • Ensuring that our services are working efficiently and effectively, including gas, electricity, and water supplies, hot water

  • Adhering to sustainable development policy in ensuring that we limit waste and maximise recycling

  • Ensuring that equipment is available and working, including IT, photocopying, projectors, cleaning equipment

  • Identifying key workmen for maintenance / emergencies (e.g. plumber, electrician) and procuring tradespeople as needed (e.g. window cleaning)  

  • Ensuring that the building is clean and safe, overseeing risk assessments

  • Purchasing of stationery, equipment and refreshments for activities linked to room hire

  • Supporting the work of stewards, volunteers, cleaners and paid staff and ensuring that they are appropriately trained to carry out their work.

You’ll know if you’ve been successful if:

  • The Centre is fully operational at all times for bookings and activities  

  • The Facilities Team –Health and Safety, Cleaners – is cohesive and effective

  • Stewards and Room Hire can be sure that equipment is working

  • We have a list of qualified tradespeople we can call on as needed

  • All records are up to date

 

Person Specification:

You should have the following skills, attributes and experiences;

 

  • Be well organised

  • Good administration skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience of caretaking / technical skills to repair and maintain

  • Computer Literacy

  • Be self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and motivate others;

  • Passion for improving, engaging and supporting the local community.

 

It would be an advantage if you had the following, but it’s not an essential requirement;

  • Office management experience

  • Speak Welsh;

  • Live relatively local to the Miners
