Elderberries Social Afternoons – Brief Update
Cai and Rocklyn, pupils from St Cenydd School, were unfortunately unable to be with us at our event held on 19th April .
Instead, we had a discussion of our future programme.
Tues 5th April
Guest speaker - Tudor Jones
Mr Tudor Jones, Chair of the Tommy Cooper Society, spoke to the Elderberries about the campaign to erect a statue of the comic in Caerphilly and all the excitement when Sir Anthony Hopkins came to unveil it. He also mentioned the Society’s work providing defibrillators in our community.
Tues 29th March
This afternoon’s session was a new experience for the Elderberries when Mary Hughes kindly gave us a chance to try needle felting.
Mary came fully prepared with the special wool & needles needed, “eggs” & even suggestions for designs.
At the end Mary awarded us 10/10 because we heeded her warning about the danger of stabbing our fingers and miraculously no-one broke a needle!
It was a lovely, relaxing activity and we could chat while “working”. We look forward to another chance to do something in the late autumn ready for Christmas.
